Q&A WITH DAVID:

What personal characteristics and/or gifts do you have that make you a good pastor?

A sense of humor.

How did you know God was leading you to become a pastor? Were there any defining moments?

I didn’t want to do it, but everything else was a closed door. A big moment was when I came back from being in Ireland for three months and had to decide what to do next. I had just graduated college and I wanted to do something important or significant. My only opportunity was to go to work for a little church in Phoenix called Living Streams. It didn’t sound good to me at the time, but I’ve found and enjoyed more life and health here than ever before.

What is your vision for Living Streams?

I want the people at Living Streams to be people who successfully resist the gravity of the superficial and artificial virtues that the city of Phoenix is built upon. I want our people to thrive—not just survive their lives. I want our congregation to experience Jesus’ presence and hear His voice. The only way I know how to accomplish this is to do what the first church did. Acts 2:42 tells us that that first church devoted itself to the apostle’s doctrine, the breaking of bread, fellowship, and prayer.

What areas of ministry do you feel personally called to:

Inspiring Christians to be courageous and competent.

What characateristics do you think make a good leader?

Courage, Grace, and FAITHFULNESS.
