Jesus is the Author of ... Life

Jesus is the author of … life.

In the second verse of the Bible we find all of creation in a bad spot. The Hebrew words that describe the bad spot are Tohuw and Bohuw. They mean meaningless and void. It was into this meaningless and void that God spoke and created all the beauty of life that we see today. According to the Apostle John and the Apostle Paul, Jesus Christ was there that day. Actually, He was not just there but He was the one who brought the beauty of life. John 1 says that the Word, who is Jesus, was the one who created all things, and that He alone is the one that gives life to everything.

In the first verse of 2 Timothy 1 we are told that in Jesus Christ is the promise of life. Then, in verses nine and ten we are told that before time began God planted Jesus Christ, His only son, as a seed of life, which in the fullness of time would become a tree of life. Well, 2000 years ago the fullness of time came for that seed of life to become the tree of life. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and on the third day burst out of the ground like a mighty tree. That tree still stands strong and firm today and gives life to all those who are grafted into it. In the book of Revelation chapter 22 we get a picture of this tree, “On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse.” That is some great news.

No matter how much death you have experienced in your life; no matter how much of your soul is currently dead; no matter how many of your hopes and dreams have died, Jesus Christ wants to, and is able to, give you life. It is what He does. He can’t even help it. In Him is found the healing of the nations and the healing that you need. He wants to bring His life and healing into all the dead places of your heart, soul, mind and body. Remember that in the Tohu wa bohu Jesus brought etz ha chayim, which means, In the meaningless and void Jesus brought the tree of life. He can do the same for you.

So taste and see that Jesus is good. Invite Him to come into the dead, broken places in your life. And if you dare, invite others to come to our services this Easter weekend so they might have an encounter with the Giver of Life: .Jesus
