The Mystery of Christ
Kristina and I were watching a Masterpiece Contemporary mystery on TV recently which had us engrossed in the intrigue of espionage in Great Britain. The mystery captivated us with its complexity, but then the program suddenly ended. At first I thought we were set up by the difference between British and American dramas. In American drama programs we expect a resolution to every mystery by the end of the program. Perhaps the British are used to programs ending with unresolved conflicts?
This weekend my message is called “The Mystery of Christ” from Ephesians 3:1-12. One of the primary callings in the Apostle Paul's life was to reveal the plans and purposes of God to believers. There had been a mystery which had been hidden from people for generations which had been recently revealed by God to the apostles and prophets. I think the core truths of this mystery are still obscured to many believers in our generation. I'm hoping this message will help us understand the truths behind this mystery and incorporate them into our lives.
It turned out Kristina and I had just watched episode one of a five-part Masterpiece series. We will tune in again to see how those mysteries are resolved. God gives each of us clues which draw us to seek Him further. There is a lot more depth to the Kingdom of God which can be revealed if we are willing to tune our lives to all God has for us.
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and reveal myself to him. (John 14:21)
