Understanding Our Spheres of Influence and Responsibility
Our hearts ache in the aftermath of the shootings in San Bernardino. It is hard to imagine the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Let's pray for those families. Let's pray for our elected officials to take appropriate action as they seek to protect our communities. Let's be bold in sharing our faith in Jesus.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). I can understand why Israel built a wall through Jerusalem to keep terrorists out of their city. However, I don't want to allow a wall of fear to keep my heart from loving people. Jesus said that in the last days wickedness would increase and the love of many people would grow cold. (Matthew 24:12) What he was saying is that it will be challenging for us to keep our hearts tender in the face of wickedness. We don't have to hide behind walls or close our hearts, because the power of Christ triumphs over this world. His grace and power are in each of us who follow him.
My sermon this weekend is called Understanding Our Spheres of Influence and Responsibility, from 2 Corinthians 10. This message gives wisdom for spiritual warfare, effective ministry, and heathy living. Please pray that I will deliver this message and lead our congregation with wisdom and grace. I'll be praying for you to be inspired by a fresh revelation of Jesus Christ.
